Just foolin around
My Rottie's name was Brutus. He came into my life when he was 8weeks old.
I wanted to share a particularly memorable moment. One day I was playing with him in my backyard on a nice summer evening. As I just ran around playing with him it got darker and darker.
As I turned to go inside for a second I could hear him barking. He seemed very distressed and wanted my attention. I started to walk towards him and he kept on inching away leading me deeper into the back yard to a portion behind the garage. It was almost dark outside so visibility was not that great.
He stopped about 3 feet away from the stockade fence and just moved back and forth looking at me and then at the fence and barking loudly. As I tried to calm him down he did whatever he could to get my attention towards the fence.
As I looked I saw that there was a fledgling bird who's leg had got caught in the stockade fence. With the help of a friend we managed to free the bird and saved it's life. If it wasn't for Brutus I would have never known about the bird.
He could have easily torn it to shreds or scared it to death literally, like most people would imagine of a Rottweiler. But that is not the true nature of the Breed, they are the most loving, compassionate, and loyal friends anyone could have. He made sure to keep a safe distance from the bird and got my attention.
I have so many more stories I could share, but This is the one I wanted to share the most. Unfortunately Brutus passed away suddenly in 2008 at age 5. But the 5 years that I had with him were filled with amazing memories and experiences that I will never forget and which I don't believe I can ever experience with any other Breed.
